The masthead
List of Local is an independent directory of Sydney — 22 hand-picked places across 15 suburbs, plus 2 written guides. It is deliberately small, deliberately static, and deliberately human: no accounts, no reviews to farm, no algorithm deciding what surfaces.
People who live in Sydney. Every entry is written after a visit — an order placed, a repair booked, a drink bought. Nothing is generated from a press release and nothing is rewritten from another directory.
A place earns its spot by being worth the trip: the coffee is good on a Tuesday, the staff know their stock, the room is still the room it claims to be. We would rather run a short list than a complete one.
No. There are no paid placements, no sponsored entries and no affiliate links in the archive. Owners can submit their business for review, but a submission is only a suggestion — it never publishes itself.
Addresses, phone numbers and opening hours are checked against the venue's own channels before an entry goes live, and re-checked when something looks stale. Opening status shown on a card is calculated from those published hours in local Sydney time.
It lands in a review queue as pending. A local reads it, checks the details, and either writes it up properly or leaves it out. Submissions never appear on the live site automatically.
Send the correction through the submission form with the business name and what changed. Hours, addresses and closures are updated by hand, and an entry is removed outright when a venue closes.
The archive covers Greater Sydney, New South Wales — from the CBD and The Rocks out through the inner west and the north-west growth corridor. Browse it by suburb, read the local guides, or put a business forward.
